d ba?

if there's a no way to shield us from the repercussions of life's realities then it is not just right that we be given the chance to say our piece? not to hide in the guise of love that keeps the object weak but to care enough to set them free and empower them to speak.

tExt msg i reCEivED 2dAY

a question that will awaken you:
what is a thrash can?
to a kid, it's just a container for his ugly toys,
to a student, it's where she kips her bad test papers,
to a teenager, it's basketcase for the letters of an ex-lover,
to a writer, it's where files of rejected drafts are thrown,
BUT
to street children, it's where they depend on to live...

See, how blessed we are?

ganda!

somebody pointed out this video to me...and since i saw it...na-inlove na rin ako...it's a song by Nicole Nordeman entitled 'Why'...watch it to see why i loved it na...

whatyathink?...be brutally honest!lolz...

this question has been playing in my mind for several days na. here is the situation, then tell me kung kaplastikan ba o hindi...i mayhave change some details para mas masaya..hehe...

i have this friend who is also a teacher of mine. she is known of being a good teacher.very friendly.very understanding.you can always go to her and tell her what you have in mind.since that is her reputation at nakita ko naman with my own eyes na true naman yung sinasabi nila.so one time, naisipan kong lumapit sa kanya to ask for advice kase nahihirapan ako sa isa kong subject. i was expecting her to help me kase nga aside from the above descriptions siya rin ang right person na puntahan ko to ask for permission kase siya ang dean namin.i actually cried in front of her when i told her na nahihirapan ako.well, i mayhave expected too much kase she did not give me any advice at all.she just said, 'ganon ba?'.well to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she's got also her own problems that time.tapos, naging teacher namin siya, much to my (and my classmates) disappointment, the name of our course is contrary to what i expected.and then sunod sunod na yung mga pangyayari na parang nakakawala ng respeto ko sa kanya.lagi kong sinasabi sa aking mga kaibigan na ang mga sama ng loob ko about her.pero pag kaharap ko xa todo ang ngiti ko.ang sa akin naman kase, yes totoo masama ang loob ko sa kanya pero i still respect her authority and if i keep on complaining about her 'pagkukulang' it does not mean that i do not respect her as she is.she've come a long way to be as she is now....one time, nashare ko sa isang friend ko ito.she told me, 'i am plastic daw' sabi ko yes if that's kaplastikan.may i ask you now.

what do you think?give me an honest answer, one that comes from the heart (hanep sa kadramahan, obvious ba na nagmamarakulyo ako?)...even though it hurts...thanks you'll...

ATTN: CHILDREN ATHEISM IN THE MOVIE 'THE GOLDEN COMPASS'!!!

i was sent an e-mail regarding this movie so i'm not gonna watch it altho i was thinking of it earlier. i copied this post of Rev. Aris Ansagay from the AGSAA yahoo group... READ ON...

Hi All;

Worth taking action .....and especially if you have kids...

There will be a new children's movie out in December called 'The Golden Compass'. The movie has been described as 'atheism for kids' and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled 'His Dark Materials' that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the 'Chronicles of Narnia'. His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.
Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that 'my books are about killing God.'
He has even stated that he wants to 'kill God in the minds of children'. It has been said of Pullman that he is 'the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed. While 'The Golden Compass' movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as 'a very powerful and convincing mistake.' In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH.

Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman's hatred of Jesus Christ.

'The Golden Compass' is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season (and staring Nicole Kidman), and will probably be heavily advertised.

Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas.

Please consider a boycott of the movie and the books. Also, pass
this information along to everyone you know (including church leaders).

This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie. I am sending this to those of you who have kids or friends with kids, grandkids or have influence with kids. So many things today are darkness concealed in what appears to be innocent.
FYI.

Don't let kids see 'The Golden Compass'

For anyone with kids, grandkids other relatives or friends who this may concern, I have checked it out at http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp and it is true.

Read the info on the link.

PASS THIS ON AND LET'S HELP STOP THIS MOVIE DEAD IN ITS TRACKS!!!!

(Sinaunang) TAG-ged pala ako…hehe..

December 1, 2007 12:34 AM

Today (I mean yesterday pala...hehe), I planned to work on my project that is due on Monday. But I don’t know what’s happening to me that I couldn’t think. When I looked at my notes and the chapters that I already finished, it looked very new and strange to me…lolz. Kaya, what I did was browsed the net for the news about the coup attempt yesterday which did not improve my desperate state kasi naiinis ako sa mga nababasa ko o nakikita sa news. So nang napagod ako sa mga nakakagalit na news back to work ulit ako kaso I still end up staring at the paper (and computer screen) in front of me . Yan na lang yata pinaggagawa ko today besides eating…hahaha. When night came, talagang wala na pag-asa na makagawa ako for that said paper. Kaya ang ginawa ko e mga blogsites naman pinagdiskitahan ko...sa multiply, blogspot, friendster at iba pa. Una just looking around ako then I came to the sites of the photographers na online buddies ko(kanu met ah)dun sa multiply, so lahat na yata ng album ni Kuya Mark (a.k.a. dawinsanity) e tinignan ko kase nainteresado ako sa mga albums niya, pati rin site ni sir HP another photographer na multiplier e dinalaw ko din and many others as well. Pictures lang gusto kong tignan ngayon at ang mga titik at letra (pareho yata sila?hmmm...) ay ayaw makipag-cooperate sa akin o ako ang ayaw? So basically, I was at these blogsites either watching, reading or leaving my comment…lolz. Then I came to ate ganda’s site and hinalughog ko lahat ng blogs niya at binasa ang mga comments until I came to her entry entitled AN ASIDE (na blog niyan nung March pa…lolz) where she tag-ged me, along with sir Bill and ate layad; where she asked us to write about atleast limang mga pangyayari na sa una e parang di maganda pero may magandang kinahinatnan din naman kumbaga e blessings in disguise(tama ba un, ay ewan, basta!)…hehe. So here goes…(isip..isip…)…ang hirap mag-isip kung ubos na ang isip sa kaiisip…haaay...buing na talaga...hyper sa pagkatopak...lolz

1. Last semester, two of our school’s event got cancelled after na pinagpaguran namin na magprepare and all. (Officer kase ako ng student body kaya kelangang magwork for it.)
2. Natalo ang brother ko sa election – for SK Chairman.
3. Marami akong dapat gawin pero browsing sa internet ang inaatupag ko.
4. Wala akong kapera-pera as in…waaah...at waaah pa ulit...huhuhu...
5. Wala ako sa sarili ko for the past days =) timang?hmmm...
6. Tumanda ako ng isang taon (ginaya ko c ate g ;)
7. Wala na akong ginawang maganda…lolz

Magandang resulta? (maganda nga ba?lolz)
1. I had a rest (u sure?) kase those two events happened to be on a Friday. So I had a longer weekend...kanu met..charing;0

2. Ay maraming magandang result ito promise…but what I love the most is that I guess naging mas closer kami ng brother ko as well with other relatives. My brother has atleast widen his circles also. At least people get to notice this shy and silent guy, that he could also do such a daring act and that he is thinking good things for his fellow youth. Naku promote to d max. Wait lang at papasok yan sa SB when time comes...wahaha...nu kayat na ah...(I might be speculating here but heck..he’s my brother!)

3. I got to chat with friends whom I had no communication ng matagal since college pa yata. I was able to meet friends on line. Was able to read comments and gave comments on friends blogsites…haha..good ba ‘yon? Was able to sit and become quite for more than 5 minutes…lolz.

D ba dapat gud isulat dito..haay kompormi ladtan ah…hehe. Tapos mainit pa ung topic ng coup the other day ba un?
6. nakapagreflect ako on the past year of God’s goodness and everything…even mishaps and depressing events that could be turned to good…ahemm (kanu met ah...). Thank you Lord!
7. what’s the good side of that? Well, I can do something good next time, d vah?…haha.

Un lang po, naku sabi ko ke ate g na saka ko na ito gawin para matino-tino naman e lalo lang naming naging kabalbalan..wahaha…

Ambongdolan Caves!

As promised, sir B =) and sir Wil (hehehe) here is my initial entry about the Ambongdolan Caves. But because I am so tamad at this point in time, I just copied this entry from the website of Tublay (pardon me!hehe...). Below are brief write-ups about two of the famous caves in Ambongdolan. I am not sure of their correctness pero I can't edit it saka na lang ako blog ng own version ko pag sinipag..hehe. I don't know why they only posted these two but there are many others pa. I don't have any pictures of them at hand as I have yet to go home and take pictures of these caves (kaso due to time constraint I can't go to each of the other caves and take a pic, one thing more wala po ako camera, nanghihiram lang...hehe). Anyways, enjoy the patikim....

Tourist Spots in Tublay

The municipality of Tublay have existing tourism resources specifically located in the barangays of Ambongdolan, and Tuel. There are also potential tourism resources for development, which can be located in all the other barangays.

BENGAO-NGAO CAVE:

Bengaongao connotes noise. The cave was named after the noisy birds that thrive inside. It is also a sanctuary for the bats. This is located in barangay Ambongdolan. The cave offers beautiful sceneries inside. Over the years, stones were formed with different shapes like tables, plates, etc. with glitters. The stalagmitesare eye catchiong. The stalactites hang freely like silk cloths.

It is believed that the cave once served as a hiding place of the Japanese soldiers or Filipino guerillas during world war II.

Here is a picture of the stalagmites and stalactites of Bengaongao cave.

PATERNO CAVE:

This cave was named in memory of Pedro Paterno, the Cabinet Head under the presidency of Aguinaldo. This served as his hideout during the Filipino-American war in the late 1900's. This cave is rich in marble.

just asking....hehe,,,

How would you feel if you were told that the gift that has been promised you, which you have been waiting for will never be given to you as it had been given to someone else?

...ma-khes ni puso(heart's cry)!...hehe,

UNMET LONGINGS

Life really is very ironic

There are things that you want to have

But it can never be yours and will never be yours.

Even though it hurts so badly but that is reality

And you can not do anything

To change that reality even you feel so badly for it

Even if you shed a lot of tears

Even if your heart wanted to burst

Because even if it so near

That you could almost touch it

Yet it is so far always eluding your reach

You can see it but never touch it

You can see it but will never have it

It’s just lurking around but you can never

Really have it as yours and yours alone.

Isn’t life ironic?

It gives what you do not want

Rather gives the best that had been prepared

For you and you alone

It is just there waiting for the taking

Just open your eyes and you will see it

Free yourself and take what is rightfully yours.

Go! Go and take it

It is just around like the wind

Just open your heart and mind

That you might see it fully

Smiling and waiting for you

Just around the corner.

Take it and happiness be yours

Happiness that can not be fathomed

But for now what you have to do is

Wait, patiently…so patiently

If you can not yet see it

Because in due time

The gift that is rightfully,

And entirely yours and yours alone

Will be revealed to you

Then you will be flooded

With unfathomable joy

That will be yours forever.

...another day!!!...

October 04, 2007; 12:19

aNOther sEt of SURPRISEs!!!

…I’ve blogged earlier of the surprises that I had on ‘the day’ of my birthday. We just concluded my bday celebration a few hours ago. The house is back to normal and everyone else went their own ways, each to their own laptops..hehe. Back to work ba..hehe. But before that this is what happened…

…my bday celeb was scheduled yesterday 0ctober 3, a day after my bday, we scheduled it that way to accommodate some needs and requests…hehe…

…so this morning, I woke up very early to buy the things we needed for the party,

…and as usual luto luto again…(tingnan u na lang pics in my album, ayos?)

…after ng lutuan, wait na kami ng mga guests…

My guests:

…UKeith came straight from the airport! What a surprise! Tita Nanay Nitz arrived midway the program (wat program?wait lang, I’ll tell about it later..hehe)

…schoolmates and classmates from AGS came as well (tignan u na lang sa pics, hehe…)

…Kuya Leo & Kuya Bong…

Thanks all sa mga dumating and the others who did not come…thanks for all your prayers…

Now about the party naman…

…I wasn’t expecting that my hauzmates (thanks to ate Robyn) had a connivance with some of our friends and prepared something different from what we usually do when we have a celebration in the hauz…thanks you all…grabe talaga…

…since we have friends from all over…we started the program introducing ourselves…then the surprises started…Ptr. Don shared something from The Word…using the life of Abigail…Abigail a woman of beauty inside and out…he stressed that women should not just put makeup in their faces but also apply spiritual makeup…thanks talaga Don! (next bday celeb c Yhong naman na mapreach…hehe…)…afterwards…Yhong serenaded me (kilig..wahaha…)…my sisterhood w/ Kuyas B&D have stolen (according to sis Sar) a white shirt of mine and made it more attractive and gave it back as their gift to me…hehehe, with all their greetings and wishes for me (now that’s better than a card, huh)…a few from the visitors gave their wishes for me as well…ansaya talaga…I was inspired (all single men and ladies actually) by what UK shared about waiting for the right man/woman at the right time…

…afterwards came the most favorite part (hehehe…)…eating time…and fellowshipping with one another…I was so overwhelmed with what they had prepared for me that I got faint but as they say tuloy pa rin…todo smile as you will see sa pics..hehehe…

…From what transpired during the party…I have only one thing to say…I am soooo happy and thankful to God for giving or surrounding me with friends who loves me and care one way or another…for the people who wasn’t able to come so sorry you all missed the fun yet…still I thank you for your prayers and all your messages…

what a day!!!

SURPRISESǃ SURPRISESǃ

“As the clock struck midnight…” (sounds familiar, huh?). What does this line from the famous Cinderella fantasy movie got to do with my blog? (Read on…)

Anyways, last night as I sat in front of my computer musing, taking a break from what I was doing, I got a surpriseǃ It may sound absurd or trivial to some but who cares…hehe. As I was in the mode of thinking as my hands tap on the keyboards mindlessly (naglalaro kc ako e…break nga d ba?hehe…). My sisterhood (d twin ates&sar) sat themselves right behind me and serenaded meǃ What for? It’s my birthdayǃ Yes, I was elated because of their thoughfulnessǃ Thanks mga kasisteran. I also received greetings from all over…thanks to technology… (thru texts, chikka, ym and blogs). Thanks also for those who greeted me earlier on, who might have forgotten the date…hehe. Salamat ng marami sa lahat…

Instead of the usual ‘good night’ messages I get from text friends, I received hapi bdays of all sorts…thanks ya’ll guys…as if that is not enough, when I entered our room at around 2am, my room mate played a recording of herself singing me a happy birthday and wishing me all the best…haaay, I slept with a smile on my face after thanking the good Lord for the dayǃ When I woke up, I have a message from my mom and I got a call from my tita who’s working overseas…as well as from pipz all over…yun lang masaya na akoǃ

“I am thankful to the Lord that He has taken me thus far and I don’t know where and what greater heights He will lead me to but where He leads me I will go.”

Thank you all for your prayers. Here are a few prayer itemsː

  1. Strength, wisdom, and good health as we finish all our requirements for this semester. Pray that we will finish them and submit them on time so that we can go home and enjoy our semestral break.
  2. For me, as I juggle between requirements and duties as a Student Body officer.
  3. Pray for our Mission Trip to Davao on Nov. 6-15, 2007. Pray that God will prepare us and the people that we will be seeing there. It is our first trip (ever) to Davao. Please pray also that we will have enough finance. We have our tickets (round trip) but for other finances we are still raising.
  4. For the source of my brother’s finance for next semester.
  5. Pray that my father and brother would come to know the saving grace of God.

Thank you all again and God blessǃǃǃ

I was tagged by Sir B to do this meme (whatever a ‘meme’ is…hehe). LThe rules of doing this meme are:

  • Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
  • People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  • At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
  • Don’t forget to leave them a comment on their blog telling them they’re tagged, and you read their blog.

Here are the random facts about me!

  1. I love company (a lot!) or being in a crowd even if the company does not like me…wehehe. Being in a crowd perks me be it in a gathering where I know the people or just being in the crowd (i.e. mall crowd). I would later on learn that some of the people that I’ve been with don’t like me at all, even pipol who I thought were my friends…huhuhu…but the good thing is I discovered that many years later…kaya ayos lang…we’re still friends naman, in fact very good friends…hehe…ang gulo ko…
  1. When I was 6 or 7 years old, I’ve read the whole New Testament in my own dialect (Ibaloi). That was long ago. Incidentally, I’m now involved in the translation of the Old Testament into Ibaloi. Hmmmm?
  1. Sunsets (of all forms) refreshes me most aside from sunrises and beautiful landscapes or creations (art, music, etc…). I love them all...nyahahaha.
  1. I’m a choir member although I’m tone deaf just like Ate Ganda. Besides not having a great voice…hmmm…kapal noh?...lolz…
  1. Most people’s first impression on me? Suplada, kontrabida, atribida, etc…daw ako…hehehe…I say, sure why not? Like I care… (although sometimes nakakarindi rin…) hahaha…but some changed their minds later on…although some stuck to their impressions kc totoo nga naman…hehe…
  1. I am a very talkative person…I don’t know when it started kc when I was in grade 1 my teacher can not coach me to recite. I remember a time that she had to pull me from my desk but I never uttered a word. And now, me and my big mouth goes...blah..blah..da..da..da…lolz…
  1. Sometimes I recall things very vividly up to the minutest detail but there are things that I totally forget up to the minutest detail naman…hehehe…ano ba yun?
  1. I’ve never fainted in my entire life or I did once when I fell from a tree and landed on my back. Does that count? Speaking of ‘nevers’…I did not experience ‘na maligo sa ulan’ not until recently (never daw o). It was fun, running around like a kid and frolicking with the rain…haay… ate G, sana maulit muli..wehehe…

If you would like to see a pic of me you can visit my multiply site or friendster. You can see my whole face there…hehe and not be a tease like Sir B or Sir TB..hehe…

Peace!

Yun lang po! Now, kayo naman. I tag people who visit my multiply (Dyna, Rommel, Lucille, Kuya Bruce, etc…) and friendster blogs (Insan Jons, Insan Jules, etc… )…mapteng and carmi of hi5.com but if you’ve done this already…nevermind…hehehe…8 lang daw sabi sa rules pero there are exeption to the rules naman di ba? (palusot lang naman at sana makalusot…hehehe).

Cheers! (nga kuna ni sir TB)

It's crying Time!

When I finished reading this article, I almost cried (…joke...).Kidding aside, I enjoyed the tidbits and great ideas of the author and since they have given the 'go-signal', I am sharing it now to all of you. It was written by DERO PEDERO in his column "LIVING ALIVE". I lifted this article from a September 12, 2006 Issue of The Philippine Star. MAybe yOu nEed A gOOd crY...too (don't you think so? I do...).

MAYBE YOU NEED A GOOD CRY

Everybody knows that laughter is the best medicine. But did you know that crying has amazing therapeutic benefits, too? Crying is nature's remarkable way of releasing pain, yet no other element of life carries so much mystery, misunderstanding, and confusion as the human tear.

Humans are unique in creation because laughter and tears intertwine in the emotional roller-coaster of our existence. Tears signify our very humanity – they are produced by the gamut of emotions we experience in life. It is not at all surprising that great poets refer to life as “a valley of tears.”

WHY PEOPLE CRY

Although most of us correlate crying with painful or unpleasant experiences and events, tears can be triggered by positive factors like happiness. Watching an awe-inspiring movie, listening to a beautiful concerto, beaming with pride as your child receive an award in school, seeing your national flag being raised at an international convention, and even happy weddings can bring a tear to your eye.

A study headed by Dr. William Frey, biochemist and tear expert at the Dry Eye and Tear Research Center, has come up with this tear percentage pattern: Sadness accounts for 49 percent of tears; happiness, 21 percent; anger, 29 percent; sympathy, 7 percent; anxiety, five percent; and fear, 4 percent. In babies, tears are mainly caused by hunger, discomfort or pain.

According to Dr. Frey, emotional tears differ chemically from tears that moisten our eyes 9like the ones produced when cutting onions), indicating that crying releases specific toxins. Just like in perspiration, we release through the tears we cry poisonous body chemicals that build up during time of stress. Crying is nature’s way of helping us cope with the pain and hardship of living, expelling toxic substances in the process.

BENEFITS OF A GOOD CRY

Aristotle theorized that a good cry cleanses the mind; it is also beneficial for the body and the spirit. Tears can make you feel better and studies show that after a good cry, people even look better. The release of sadness and unclogging of negative energy blockages are believed to cause a liberating change that produces the pleasant feeling and look of well-being.

A lover who cries a river over a romantic break up can get over the negative feelings faster. Mourning relatives face their loss better after crying their grief out. Traumatic childhood experiences can be released from one’s negative memory by remembering and crying over them in a psychiatric session. After crying, problematic persons are provided a clean slate and are able to start anew and move on.

You can only cry if you really get in touch with your innermost feelings. It is only when you permit yourself to connect with your deepest sentiments that the tears will flow. To release your pain and sadness, you must acknowledge their presence, know the reasons causing them, and then flush them out of your consciousness by crying. Different individuals have different tear threshold levels; determining yours will help you properly process and release your pain.

LET THE CHILDREN CRY

In most societies, crying in public is a big no-no. We often see parents command their children to hush and stop crying. Most resort to the old “whip ‘em to stop their crying” method of disciplining children. Young boys are told that crying is for sissies, that is a sign of weakness. As kids grow up, they learn to bottle negative emotions, deny how they feel, and keep themselves from crying. This is very dangerous because the negative emotions and internal pain or sadness get bottled up inside the individual, putting perpetual tension in the body, and subsequently developing into some physical illness.

What do you do when a child cries? Determine the cause of his discomfort. If he is hungry, feed him; if he is wet, change his diapers. A child’s attention can be diverted by giving him a colorful toy, a plaything that emits musical tones, or something interesting he can play with. Older children maybe harder top deal with. If they persist in crying, let them; they will eventually stop when they get tired. But don’t command them to bottle their emotions – it is unhealthy.

CRY AND BE HEALTHY

Like laughter, crying is one of nature’s most anti-sadness therapies. Tears help reduce stress, stabilize emotions, remove toxins, and enhance the body’s ability to heal itself. Scientists now conclude that people who cry enjoy better health. In fact, some hospitals in the US refrain from giving depressed patients anti-depressant medication right away. They allow them to cry out their miseries.

Crying is letting the dam overflow, so to speak. If you keep denying and boxing the negative feelings in your life, they would soon accumulate so much pent-up energy that the dam would break. This often leads to a psychological breakdown or a destructive rampage like a school shootout or road rage.

So if you feel you have some deep-seated stress, depression, problem or rage that you can’t seem to shrug off, let your emotional dam overflow. Maybe all you need is a good cry.

...hOw tRANSLaTion gOT mE!

written February 28,2007.

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord. I would like to share you two things here: 1) how I got into translation and 2) how I am doing now in my study here at the Alliance Graduate School.

Ibaloi Translation team!

L-R: Michelle Saingan, Sherwin Cadate, Wilfred Villase and Jean Behis in their office.

In the year 2002, I graduated of my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. A few months of looking for a related job was unsuccessful. I landed a as a sales clerk in a department store. But I had to resign after a few months for a teaching job but that did not pushed through either. A year later, when I was the province, jobless for several months already, my mom remembered a job offered to her before. It was something like of related to a secretarial job such as filing papers. When I asked (through text) the person if the job was still open the answer came as a surprise to me. That Sunday, the pastor that came to preach in our church handed me a brown envelope with the instruction of translating what is inside. It turned out that the material is the book of Ruth of the Old Testament. That was it. I wasn’t briefed of what was I am to do but I am aware of the Bible translation that is on-going in our language. And that pastor was one of them. I was so obedient and didn’t even ask questions, I just did what was instructed of me since I was tired of my idyllic life. He also told me that in two weeks time, we are to attend a Peer Checking Seminar-Workshop somewhere (it was in CFM, Bambang). That was in August 2003. That was the start of my involvement in translation. I can’t say that I totally enjoyed that seminar workshop but when another one came in November, I was still there. I was hooked! I am thrilled! I was excited to do this thing and by the grace of God. I am still here! And at present there are now four of us in our Team. One of the pioneer members of the team had gone ahead to be with our creator.

After a year of being in the team, an opportunity was given to us. This was through our mother organization, NPMTTA which is in partnership with SIL of training mother tongue translators. I was one of those who came in the school year 2004-2005 for our Diploma in Applied Linguistics and graduated. Afterwards, we are suppose to go back to out team for at least a year. During that one year, I helped facilitate at least three LMTTT workshops that were held in SIL Center, Bagabag. I also had the opportunity of finishing the translation of the book of Ruth, having it consultant checked and ready for printing. After a year of working with my team, I am now back here again taking up a 2 year MA in Applied Linguistics – Bible Translation. Studying here at AGS is really a great experience. It has its ups and downs. Life here is totally different as compared in the province. Although, I had my share of complaints I also have a lot of jubilations. And even my complaints turned out to be things to be joyful about! I had built friendships that would transcend time having spent at least 10 months with different people (this was during my first year). I was also able to meet people from across the world and be able to work with them. It was fun really.

Now, I am experiencing the same thing. With a new set of friends we embark into the challenging life of Applied Linguistics. And by the grace of God we are victoriously finishing each phase together. I want share of a particular experience that had impacted me. There was this course which I dread so much because of the gravity of requirements and all. At the onset of that phase, I was about to take it on audit but the encouragements from my friends along with the sunny disposition and encouraging facilitators of that course made me forget to do so. And when I remembered to do it, well, it was far too late. The facilitators made the course fun despite its enormity and I am proud to say that I finished that course in flying colors along with the whole class. (May it be the same in all my other courses!) On top of that are the encouragements that I receive from classmates, friends and from our Growth Group classes.

Life at AGS is not at all work, I am also having fun meeting new people from other programs during the school’s activity such as the family camp and the sport’s fest. In all these things, praise be to our God. Do continue praying for us as we finish our program. Include our families back in the province, our team mates and community we will be serving when we get back.

A Creed To Live By

...just wanted to share something thatcaught my attention this morning (March 16, 2007)...i saw this in a classmate' s resource book...

A CREED TO LIVE BY
Don't undermine your worth
by comparing yourself with others
It is because we are different
that each of us is special.
Don’t set your goals by what
other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you,
as you heed God’s leading and guidance
and the counsel of the wise.
Don’t take for granted the things
closest to your heart.
Cling to them as you would your life,
for without them life is meaningless.
Don’t let your life slip through your fingers
by living in the past or the future.
By living your life one day at a time,
you live all the days of your life.
Don’t give up when you still have
something to give
Nothing is really over…
Until the moment you stop trying.
Don’t be afraid to admit that
you are less than perfect,
it is this fragile thread
that bind us to each other.
Don’t be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that
We learn how to be brave.
Don’t shut love out of your life
by saying it is impossible to find.
The quickiest way to receive love
is to give love;
the fastest way to lose love
is to hold it too tightly;
and the best way to keep love
is to give it wings.
Don’t dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope
to be without hope is without purpose.
Don’t run through your life so fast
that you forget not only where you’ve been
but also where you’re going.
Life is not a race,
but a journey to be savored
each step of the way.

Literacy Class...is it worth it or not?

March 14, 2007

At the onset of this class, I thought "What good would this course give me?" I don't really have a good attitude towards this class especially that...well never mind. But then, it made me think that it is also really needed especially when I think of my own barrio or barangay. People needs to be literate in order to function well in the society. Yes, they do speak our vernacular language but what about in the area of learning, communicating with other people especially so from other places. How about the deamnd of being competent in this modern world. How would we be able to cope up with the fast chaning world that is eading towards economic progress (if there is) and globalization? What can I do so that my people will not be left behind? These questions and many led me to think of starting to learn about my own lanaguage and thinking as well of the importance of literacy in my line of minstry which is Bible Translation. More to come. Have to go back to class pa kc. Please leave your comments and profound suggestions and ideas. Thank you. God bess you all.

..just sharing...some quotes...

...some qoutes that speaks about how i feel these days...haay..(*sigh*)
"As you read a book, it's hard to turn into another page unless you understand the first one. Just like love, it's hard to go on with the new unless you're over with your past."
"Life is short so break the rules...Forgive quickly. Believe slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you happy!"
"The face can speak of a thousand emotions but it can easily mask what the heart truly feels. Don't be fooled for the 'happiest face maybe masking the most hurting heart.'"
"Silence doesn't always mean yes, it also mean no but it's better left unsaid. Anger doesn't always mean hatred, it could just be a means of coping up. Laughter doesn't always mean happiness, sometimes it is just a mask. Tears doesn't always ean sorrow, it may also be an outlet of joy. Staying away doesn't always mean it's the end, it may also mean the best beginning. And life though it's so complex is always beautiful."
