Hello December as November fades out in the background!

December 1, 2008

This morning when I woke up, I didn't realize that it is the first day of December. Especially so that I woke so sore all over and I felt that I had no bones in me. I lingered in bed and while doing so read the text messages that I receive. A few of them starkly reminded me that TODAY is the first day of December indeed!(wheew)

I am in a middle (start of 3rd week of a 4 week long workshop) and since wala kaming tv at radio, we are out of touch sa outside world. So it was easy to forget what day it is. It's usually like this when we are in a workshop dito sa Bagabag. I feel so out of touch but enjoying the serenity in the compound.

November has its own memorable events as well as unthinkable memories (whatever those are..hehe). Sayang I missed the Benguet Foundation Day celebration as it was just starting when we travelled going to the workshop. Even the foundation day of our municipality, I totally missed out. It's good that fellow multipliers were generous to share their captures of the moments and I felt I was there too. Thanks everyone. I was not so sorry I missed out although I would love to be there sana in real life.haha.(ano kaya yun). Nevertheless, I am happy of the developments that we are having in the workshop although the frustrations seems to build up at times but discovering something about our language makes the frustration fade out. Especially so that I am not alone in this discovery journey. This is the first time also that all five of us are all together attending a workshop. We also had a chance to go and visit in Bitnong as well as in Banaue. As mentioned earlier, we started today the 3rd week of the workshop. After this workshop, I will be heading to the south with colleagues to help in a translators training. That would be from Dec. 15 - 26 but we have to fly out on the 15th and travel by land for 8 hours before getting to our destination. I will be back in Wangal on the 29th or 30 maybe. Please pray for us.
Thanks you all. Have a merry Christmas

All for now. God bless

reckless driving or careless parents

Last month I experienced my first (ever) vehicular accident. Well, don't worry I wasn't hurt. It was not that bad, it's just that the jeep that I was in accidentally overrun a little girl on her feet. I was not really paying attention to what's around me so I was oblivious of what happened. I was wearing my earphones and the volume was turned to the max kaya I did not hear the screaming of my fellow passengers but I kinda saw it and when I looked out of the window, I saw a little girl under the tires of the jeepney (sa may likuran).

Wheew, I was so shocked that my heart beat so fast I thought I would have a heart attack (so OA noh?). Pero grabe talga nerbiyos ko, I was never in an accident before and never saw one happen right before my eyes. Yes I have seen some pero only in televisions and in movies.

The accident happened in a very clear road. No other jeepneys in sight and the time where traffic's not so busy. The driver claimed he did not see the little girl. The mother was talking to someone and did apparently did not see her child run accross the street towards their house which is across the store where she bought something maybe for a late breakfast or lunch (I saw the mother holding a bag of things she might have bought or inutang sa store..hehe.) The li'l girl was screaming from the pain but the mother seemed not to be bothered (or natulala lang, she's also very pregnant.) It's good that my fellow passengers warned the driver and a man was very quick to help the girl and get her out quick from under the tire. I appreciate them very much as well as the driver, kudos to the driver who willingly suggested to bring the girl to the hospital. So they brought the girl in the jeep but I can't look at her and even listening to her scream made my heart beat faster. The driver regretfully told us to transfer to another jeepney for the hospital is on the other way. It just so happened that the place where I'm going is near so I walked despite the heat to calm myself.

So who's to blame here, is it the driver who happened to looked the other way when that girl run across or the mother who forgot that they were in a highway when she started talking with someone?

Whoevers fault it is, I hope that li'l girl is ok now.
