Literacy Class...is it worth it or not?

At the onset of this class, I thought "What good would this course give me?" I don't really have a good attitude towards this class especially that...well never mind. But then, it made me think that it is also really needed especially when I think of my own barrio or barangay. People needs to be literate in order to function well in the society. Yes, they do speak our vernacular language but what about in the area of learning, communicating with other people especially so from other places. How about the deamnd of being competent in this modern world. How would we be able to cope up with the fast chaning world that is eading towards economic progress (if there is) and globalization? What can I do so that my people will not be left behind? These questions and many led me to think of starting to learn about my own lanaguage and thinking as well of the importance of literacy in my line of minstry which is Bible Translation. More to come. This was written by a friend of my cousin upon my request. She's a genius, I asked her one night to write me a poem, gave her some ideas and lo and behold, she gave me this the following morning. She's a brilliant gal but she gave up her bright future coz she was sidetracked and misled. Hei, this is for you and my cuzin, hope you will see each other soon...

Friend In The Journey

Family Camp 06

Well, this is long overdue...I just wanted to say that this was the best camp I ever attended my whole life! Wanna know why? All we had to do was sleep,eat and play as long as can. ("Drink, eat and be merry" style ba.) And that was the highlights of the camp. It was really fun. Imagine, you just go there and practically do nothing! Me...I sleep most of the time and of course...xiempre...I love mealtimes. The center provided great food...eat all you can!Whoooh! I had a great time there bonding with people. Hope to be there again next time!
The center is called Rizal Re-Creation Center run by an American couple (Joe Maukand his wife). They've been here in the country for at elast 27 years and their ministry besides the campsite is showcasing the "Best Tops" in the world. And mind you, they have the biggest and heaviest top in the world at 28 kilograms. Imagine that!
